Forum: Wordfast support Topic: licencing Wordfast to the second computer Poster: Alex Lago Post title: Same as on the first one Do it the same as you did the first one, your wordfast license allows: 'Individual users (physical persons) who want to use the software on a second computer (for example, a laptop) they own and use: install Wordfast on the second computer then obtain a license number using the relicense procedure.' So basically install the program on your computer, read the install number and go into your wordfast.net account and get the license.

Forum: Wordfast support Topic: WFP: Could not create the Java virtual machine Poster: Alex Lago Post title: Open wordfast.ini Locate a file called 'wordfast.ini' on your computer, open it with notepad or another text editor and look for the line that reads (I imagine you gave it the max memory 1470 MB) -Xmx1470m change it to read -Xmx1024m save the file and open Wordfast. That should have solved the problem, if not you can allocate lower memory resources: 256 MB or 512 MB, which would be respectively -Xmx256m -Xmx512m. Forum: Wordfast support Topic: Help! I can not download my translation from Wordfast Anywhere Poster: Andrew Alix Post title: Download wordfast translated document quote Andrew Alix wrote: You could try to remove the tags at the section one at a time and copy the tags from the source line. They could be corrupted.

I am gradually getting the hang of Anywhere which I am using to maximise a certain workflow that I have to satisfy; thanks to the earlier poster for the note about the yahoo group which I've no doubt will be useful, Cheers all round DB /quote I had this very issue yesterday, and just like Daniel wrote, even though I couldn't download the document, I could download my entire TM for the project. I simply downloaded the WordFast Classic Demo, imported the TM, and clicked Next, Next, Next. It is a little bothersome, but it took about 1 minute per page, so it wasn't such a big deal. Now, I simply set up an alarm and save/send the translation to my E-mail every hour or so (every time I take a break).

WFC can run on Windows, Mac and Linux with MS Word 97 or higher installed, however, it cannot run on Mac Word 2008.' 'Wordfast Pro (WFP) is a standalone, platform-independent desktop TM tool. WFP was designed specifically to address the needs of translation agencies and corporations in addition to freelance translators. Wordfast Pro is a standalone translation environment tool that can run on any platform without the need to integrate with MS Word. WFP can handle MS Office file formats plus ASP, JSP, Java, InDesign (INX & IDML), Framemaker (MIF), and TagEditor (TTX) files.

I know this is now off-topic but do you know if there's any way to keep the source formatting when copying and pasting from the QTranslate box? /quote There is a way to keep the formatting.

Once you've done Ctrl+C, then Ctrl+V, just click Ctrl alone, wait until a little box pops up with different formatting choices and just click T Done! (sometimes the little box takes some time to pop up). Forum: Wordfast support Topic: Wordfast 3.2 issues Poster: L. Larmo Hi, until now I've been very happy with Wordfast, but after installing v3.2.0 I've had some really strange problems.

I'm using Windows XP, as also with the previous versions. First of all for some reason I'm not able to use anymore a remote TM with which I've worked several times when doing previous jobs; I get an error notification which says: 'The following error occurred:.remote TM URL.: Failed to connect. Could not connect to TM server.server name. as.user name.

(bad user (27)) Please note that this TM will be disabled.' The client downloaded their TM and sent it to me so that way the problem is 'solved' in this case. However, in the meanwhile other strange issues appeared. The job consists of various files and in some of the files, for no clear reason, when I reach a certain segment, the whole program stops and I have no other option than to close the program. At some point it started to seem to me that the glossary would be the problem and sure enough, when I disable the glossary, I can continue without problems, also with the segments that had blocked the program. The strange thing is that I've used the very same glossary also the other times when I've done this particular job.

I'd like to have some advice as not being able to use remote TMs and glossaries seems a bit strange to me. Thanks in advance, Laura. Forum: Wordfast support Topic: Wordfast Pro 3.2 saving segmented bilingual file when I didn't ask it to Poster: Kristyna Marrero Post title: Change Styles Hi Chiara, You need to delete the TW4WinMark Style from your original source doc. To do that, open the file in MS Word.

On the Home tab, all the way to the right, you will see 'Change Styles.' Click the little arrow that appears underneath it (or click Atl + Ctrl + Shift + S) to see a drop down menu with a list of styles. Scroll down to 'TW4WinMark.' Right click on it and delete it.

Then save that Word doc and reopen it in WFP. Translate it and save translated file as usual. The result should be a non-segmented translated file.

Hope this helps, Kristyna. Forum: Wordfast support Topic: WF PRO: Mac bug Poster: Girino I am using WF Pro on a Mac (latest OS). I wanted to check my version, but when I click on the menu Wordfast About, nothing happens. Another bug for such a simple task! I am wondering if Wordfast is thinking about discontinuing their Mac version since it is always so poor. I cannot open TXML files by double clicking on them, I cannot select WF windows clicking anywhere on it but only clicking on WF icon on the task bar.

It often crashes and sometimes it doesn't display the text to be translated, just the segments in the Outline pane (I have to reboot the computer for them to show!). It is painful! Forum: Wordfast support Topic: Unable to add new Text based Filter in Wordfast Pro Poster: marjie Hi there I am investigating whether WFP is a suitable tool for our localisation needs and I have downloaded a demo version of Wordfast Pro 3.2.0. I am trying to add a filter for an xml file and I have read the slides on translating XML files in WFP in Tips and Tricks.

I have also read the Wordfast Wiki topic 'Translation of XLF Files'. The problem I am having is that, when I go to add a New format, I do not have a 'Text based Filter' option in my list. I have tried selecting 'XML Filter' and using the.properties file I created, but I get a 'Not Responding' message in the Progress Information dialog box when I try to open the file. (I also don't have a.xml option for the file type when I go to Open File.) Is this problem due to my running a demo version, or am I using the wrong process? Any help would be much appreciated. Forum: Wordfast support Topic: Using multiple source/target terms in a single Glossary entry.

Poster: Samantha Payn Post title: Entries for source terms only I'd manage this by making entries for the three source terms (without these Wordfast will not know to alert you to translations you have entered). When you enter the definitions, there is a text box for your comments, and I'd use this to remind me of the other options. I'd then type in my choice to the target document each time. If you make three entries for each source (each with a different definition) you'll have to select which definition you want, each time.

Either way there are a few key-presses involved. Forum: Wordfast support Topic: Using multiple source/target terms in a single Glossary entry.
